Independent Producers' Organisation
Annual General Meeting

Why it is important to keep the IPO alive?

  • The launch of the new channels present huge opportunities, not only for production, but also to create terms of trade we want - let's seize this moment!
  • Ownership and IP discussion are still in limbo, despite mutterings from the SABC - the only way to close this debate in our favour is if we put up relentless pressure!
  • Labour issues: we need to get our industry labour practices approved and accepted by DOL before we get shut down for breaking the law!
  • The DTI are ready to launch more of the Customized Sector Development programme, but needs us to drive the rollout!
  • The lack of lottery funds for the industry needs to addressed by us producers, not by the NFVF or anyone else!
  • BBBEE requirements are a reality - we need to lead this transformation and figure out whether we need a specific industry charter or not!
  • There are massive political changes ahead, and we need to be ready to lobby and secure our position as a favoured industry!
  • There are no givens or absolutes - nothing is cast in stone. Don't look away, hoping someone else will step up - your industry needs you!

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE NEW EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Much of the advances we have made over the last two years have been the result of intense selfless work done by a handful of individuals - it is time for new members to step forward and take this forward!  You will be supported. Offer your services!  It is very empowering to be part of the solution rather than muttering from the wings

If you are a paid up member of the IPO, you are invited to advise by email:

  1. Who you would like to nominate for the new Executive Committee (Nominees should be consulted and agree before their names are put forward)
  2. Whether you are interested in and available to serve on the Executive Committee

A detailed agenda will be distributed to members a week before the meeting. If there is any item that you would particularly like to have on the agenda, please inform the IPO office.

Directions to Bomb will be emailed to those who need them. Please advise if you need directions.
